Heavy metals bioaccumulation in Berseem (Trifolium alexandrinum) cultivated in areas under intensive agriculture, Punjab, India
Berseem (Trifolium alexandrinum) is one of the main fodder crops of Punjab, India. But due to the heavy metal contamination of agricultural soils by anthropogenic activities, there is rise in metal bioaccumulation in crops like Berseem. In addition to human influence, heavy metal contents in soil are highly dependent on soil characteristics also. Therefore a study was conducted in areas having ...
متن کاملPhytoremediation of heavy metals by Trifolium alexandrinum
The release and persistence of toxic heavy metals into the natural environment is a serious concern especially in urban areas. The problem of heavy metal pollution is gaining momentum from year to year as more and more amounts of heavy metals are extracted from their ores and released into the environmental segments (water, air and soil) during processing or afterwards. Heavy metals are essenti...
متن کاملChalcanol glucosides from seeds of Trifolium alexandrinum.
Three new chalcanol glucosides have been isolated from the seeds of Trifolium alexandrinum, of which the first two are alpha'-chalcanol-alpha, beta-epoxides and the third one is an alpha, beta-dihydroxy-alpha'-chalcanol. The structures of the isolated compounds were verified by means of MS and 2D NMR spectral analyses.
متن کاملPhytochemical screening and protective effects of Trifolium alexandrinum (L.) against free radical-induced stress in rats
Trifolium alexandrinum is traditionally used in various human ailments, including renal dysfunctions. The present experiment was designed to investigate antioxidant and nephroprotective effect of T. alexandrinum methanolic extract (TAME) against CCl4-induced oxidative stress in albino rats. Results of in vitro study revealed significant (P < 0.05) antioxidant effects. The ameliorative role of T...
متن کاملEffect of additive and replacement intercropping ratios of forage sorghum (Sorghum bicolor L. Moench) and berseem clover (Trifolium alexandrinum L.) on forage production
To evaluate forage production and land equivalent ratio (LER) in additive and replacement intercropping systems of forage sorghum and berseem clover, a field experiment was conducted using randomized complete block design with eight treatments and three replications at the research field station of Seed and Plant Improvement Institute, Karaj, Iran, in 2016-17 and 2017-18 growing seasons. The ex...
